I nominate "Iats" for the 2015 chutzpah Nobel prize

Unian reports:

Russia should pay for the restoration of Donetsk and Luhansk, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said on Sunday, according to Ukrainian online newspaper Ukrainska Pravda.

If I were a rich man...
"As for the reconstruction of the Donbas - I think it is logical to put the question of reparations to the Russian Federation. They destroyed the Donbas, and Russia should pay for the restoration of Donetsk and Luhansk," Yatseniuk said.

"They [Russia] have destroyed our economy, they carried out a military intervention, a military aggression. And they should be held responsible for that," he said.

As reported earlier, in December 2014 Yatseniuk said that Ukraine submitted a number of lawsuits against the Russian Federation seeking compensation for damage caused by its military aggression.

Earlier, Yatseniuk said that the amount of damage from the military actions in the east of Ukraine totaled $8 billion.

"Recently, we have assessed the rebuilding of infrastructure as UAH 8 billion. Now the hryvnia can be replaced with a dollar," Yatseniuk said.

-------
Saker commentary: so "Iats" is saying that it was the Russian Federation which destroyed the Donbass, not the junta's artillery.  Nevermind that while the junta was laying waste to Novorussia the Russian Federation was sending numerous convoys of aid to the Donbass which Kiev (and Uncle Sam) declared an "invasion".  "Iats" also seems believe that Russia ought to rebuilt a Donbass even though he also seems to want the Donbass to remain part of his Banderastan.  I hereby nominate Iats for the "chutzpah Nobel prize for 2015".

A "revisionist Russia" on "NATO's doorstep”

RT reports:

US State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki and Pentagon Press Secretary Rear Adm. John Kirby have been challenged over the Department of Defense's claims that the US must “deal” with “modern and capable” Russian armed forces on NATO's doorstep.

Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu expressed “grave concern” and “surprise” at a Wednesday speech made by US Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel during the Association of the United States Army’s annual conference. Hagel declared that US armed forces "must deal with a revisionist Russia - with its modern and capable army - on NATO's doorstep.”

Kirby was confronted by AP journalist Matt Lee over NATO expansion closer to the Russian borders at the State Department's daily press briefing on Thursday. Here is their exchange:

On a lighter note: the BBC propaganda is still the best

Actually, there is some very serious stuff taking place - infighting in the Novorussian leadership is getting worse and worse but I need time to write up something more or less coherent.  So that is for later today or tomorrow.

In the meantime, here are a few short ones:

The BBC is the best!

I saw the following to on the BBC's website yesterday:

"This was ferocious work, involving more precise firepower than the rebels could possibly muster.  It's possible Russian helicopters were involved".  This is priceless.  Apparently, nobody in the UK (or in the Ukraine) ever bothered to explain to this civilian that all it takes is a recon group with an artillery spotter and a single MLRS strike to achieve exactly what he saw.  Also, apparently nobody explained to that presstitute that this combo is exactly how the NAF managed to beat the crap of the JRF.  But the best part is the "possible Russian helicopter", especially the typical modern use of the word "possible" which in modern zombified parlance is always understood as equivalent to "probable".  I wish that somebody would tell the BBC that a Russian helicopter attack would do far *less* damage than a MLRS strike, but that is not the point.  The point is that if the presstitute accepts that a helicopter strike is possible, why not a Russian bomber strike or even cruise missile strike?  Why not accept that the Russians, who apparently have a Romulan-style "cloaking device" on their *19* maneuver battalions in Novorussia (official figure from Kiev!), also could use space-based death ray powered by a "dilithium crystals converter".  This is just as "possible" as the use of Russian attack helicopters, even though neither are probable.

I also notice the doubleplusgoodthinking use of "Luhansk" rather then the crimethink "Lugansk".  How totally lame...

The BBC is still the best!

And then I also saw this one:

Yup!  They did write it: Obama will send in "3,000 troops, to help fight the virus".   Yes, I know what they meant by that, but look what Josetxo sent me this morning (-: apparently, he reads my mind :-)

This is just so typical.  It is like when the Americans finally figured out that the Chinese were doing big business in Africa.  Instead of trying to complete with them, they created AFRICOM.  So yes, these guys really only see nails everywhere.

Okay, now I need to dwell on the bad news out of Novorussia.  Hopefully I will get another post up later today.

Cheers,

The Saker

PS: if I remember correctly, when Star Trek was created the Klingons were suppose to represent the Chinese while the Romulans were Russians. If so, then it is only fitting to suspect Russia of having developed a "cloaking device" for her armed forces.

Laughter and concern

First, some laugher: I just want to show you how Ukie nationalists (Shevchenko and Liashko) interact with each other.  This needs no translation:

Precious, no?

Then, the possibly very bad new: Vzgliad is reporting that Igor Strelkov has resigned his position as Defense Minister.  If confirmed - Vzgliad is usually well-informed - this is very bad news.  Not that Novorussia lacks capable military leaders, but because Strelkov had managed to subordinate all the commanders of the Resistance - except Khodakovski - to is authority.  As Strelkov mentioned it many times, it is very hard to turn several groups of volunteer guerrillas into a real army, and Strelkov pretty much succeeded in doing so.  If his resignation is confirmed, I am very worried that infighting between the various rebel groups will resume and that the junta will use this political chaos to attack and beat back the Resistance.

As always, stay tuned.  I will try to keep you posted.

Cheers,

Polish Ambassador’s #FreedomApples Appeal

Maybe it's me, but when I saw this I could not stop laughing.  Then I wondered if this was a fake, but apparently the guy is for real.  You can find his bio, along with a hilarious "wanna look tough" photo, here.  So this is real.  See for yourself:

But then I took a look at the comments under the video and I could simply not believe my eyes.  Here is a screenshot of these comments:

Amazing, no?  Unless this is some clever Russian-sponsored fake, these comments seem to express a disgust with Poland's pathetic subservience to the USA.

Anyway, here is the link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4dlXh0IfA0

Which is posted on what appears to be the genuine YouTube channel of the Polish Embassy in Washington: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyPzL0ciViJYCgJmswJ_2BQ

The EU bestows its highest honor on Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov

Yesterday, the EU published it's newest list of individuals and companies included in its anti-Russian sanctions list.  The latest list include Mikhail Fradkov, the Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service SVR, Alexander Bortnikov, the Director of the Russian Federal Security Service FSB, Nikolai Patrushev, the Secretary of the Russian Security Council and Ramzan Kadyrov, the President of Chechnia.

Previously, the EU had already "recognized" the outstanding service of Igor Sergun, the Commander of the Russian Military Intelligence Service (GRU) who was also included in its sanctions list.  But what did Ramzan Kadyrov do to deserve to me included in such distinguished company?  According to the EU, he
made statements in support of the illegal annexation of Crimea and in support of the armed insurgency in Ukraine. He stated inter alia on 14 June 2014 that he ‘will do anything to help revive Crimea’. In that context, he was awarded the medal for ‘the liberation of Crimea’ by the Acting Head of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea for the support he provided to the unlawful annexation of Crimea. In addition, on 1 June 2014 he expressed his readiness to send 74 000 Chechen volonteers to Ukraine if requested to do so.
The EU makes it sound like Kadyrov is guilty of nothing else but crimethink.  But, of course, this is not quite true.  We can all be sure that Kadyrov, just like the other four outstanding anti-Nazi heroes honored today, did much more to protect the culturally Russian people of the Ukraine from the ethnic cleansing policies of the junta in Kiev.  Maybe he should get yet a second medal of "Hero of Russia"? :-)

As somebody who remembers the Cold War very well, who spent most of his life fighting against the KGB (in both my professional and private lives) and who remembers the truly satanic horrors of the wars in Chechnia, it is amazing to now see the heads of the Russian security and intelligence services being thus "honored" by the EU alongside the President of Chechnia.  True, it is also sad for me to see how low Europe has fallen to sanction those who did the most to fight a illegal, racist and terrorist regime in Kiev.  For seven decades the West European elites have passed all sorts of laws banning the free investigation of the "Holocaust" under penalty of incarceration, for seven decades they have been completely paranoid and looking for even minute signs of possible "neo-Fascism" in various right-wing parties and for seven decades they have solemnly nodded their heads in heartfelt agreement with the warning of Brecht "the belly where from the filthy beast came out is still fecund".  And now it turns that that this "belly" is them!  Not only are the western democracies the belly from which the filthy beast came out, but ex-KGB types and former Chechen insurgents are now at the forefront of the struggle against this beast, and for self-determination, international law, human rights and freedom.

Amazing, no?

And does this not beg a disturbing and painful question for me and maybe many of you also: who/where was the real 'Evil Empire' in the 1983?

Humor against disinformation

A couple of days ago I was watching Russian TV news when I came across this absolutely hilarious segment.  I asked the "Russian Team" to subtitle it for my English speaking readers and here it is, thanks to "AE"!

This war is truly one of constant and systematic disinformation and one of the many lies spread by the Empire's corporate media is that the Russian media was "toning down" it's criticism of Banderastan which, in turn, suggested that they did so at the behest of the Kremlin which, of course, meant that "Putin had betrayed".  Utter nonsense, of course, the Russian media, which I follow every day, is still absolutely enraged at the Ukie junta and its coverage has not been "toned down", not even by a small notch.  But what this reporter from Ren-TV did is even better: he turned the latest lie of the AngloZionist propaganda machine against its authors and used it to ridicule them.

I am delighted to be able to share this with you not only to reassure you about the Russia media (I have had comments posted here which echoed this myth about the Russian media toning down its rhetoric) but to also show a great example how humor can be used as a weapon against disinformation.

Enjoy and have a great-week end!

The Saker

PS: just to clarify in case it is not as obvious in the English subtitles as it is in Russian, after listing all the expression which, according to the western MSM lies, the Russian media stopped using, this reporter, Andrei Dobrov, uses them all together in the very next sentence while making the point that there is no reason to tone down anything.

PPS: please make sure to click on the 'cc' button on the bottom right of the video to see the subtitles

English-style (but very French) humor as a medicine for sad moods

The "French team" (who are doing an absolutely incredible job every day on vineyardsaker.fr) have just sent me an English-style limerick, but originally written in French by Henri Suhamy, an Anglicist specialized in Shakespeare, and then re-written, again by him, in English. Here are both versions:

Original French version

Le nouveau président Petro Porochenko
Joue un jeu dangereux en visant le banco.
Le bruit de la guerre en Ukraine
Donne à chacun de la migraine
Et peut faire tomber les murs de Jéricho.
English version:
There's a new president in the Ukraine
Who from day to day has to rack his brain.
The awkward situation
Causes so much crispation
That the poor fellow suffers from dire strain.
Thanks guys, I sure needed the smile today :-)

Amitiés à tous,

This is too funny

First, McDonald's left Crimea.  Now Burger King took its place.  I would personally prefer Crimea free of crap-food joints, but I have to admit that this is one occasion when capitalism makes me smile.

This and that

The bad news is that I am still sick.  The good news is that today I had a good laugh.  In Saint Petersburg, members of the political party PVO  or "Party of Great Russia" (I would describe them as "Stalinist patriots") have offered the US Consulate a Russian "karavai" (kind of traditional bread given to newly weds and to welcome friends) with the words "thanks to the USA for Crimea".  The reason for this gratitude comes for the popular joke in Russia nowadays that "the US paid five billion dollars to have Russia take back Crimea".  It goes like this:

Thanks USA!
"Israeli President Peres asks the Russian President: -Vladimir, are you of Jewish ancestry? -Putin: What makes you think so, Shimon? -Peres: You made the US pay five billion dollars to deliver Crimea to Russia. Even for a Jew, that is audacious!"

There is much truth to this:  it is a fact that only the rabid Fascism of the US-supported Right Sector, Freedom Party or Yulia "Nuke Russians" Timoshenko could trigger the awakening of Russian national identity both in Russia and the Ukraine. I myself, only a few months ago, wrote that "Russian speakers in the Ukraine are not pro-Russian, they are pro-Ruble", now this has dramatically changed and the credit for this really belongs to Obama and his hysterically Russophobic policies.

Sometimes it take as strong slap in the face to wake up somebody who is in a deep coma and that is what the USA did for millions of Russian people, especially the youth and there is a vast consensus amongst Russians that the US/NATO/EU achieved this by backing armed Nazi nationalists against a legitimate (if corrupt) regime and against the democratic will of most people not to live in a thug-controlled "Banderastan".

Here is some footage of the members of PVO expressing their gratitude to US diplomats:

Anyway,

I just want to let you know that I know I owe many of you emails and I will reply as soon as possible.  For the time being, it looks like I will spend the next 24 hours in bed.

Kind regards and thanks for your understanding and kind wishes,

The Saker

PS: while lying in bed, I am still thinking and I am pretty sure that I have an interesting topic to submit to your attention as soon as I feel better. Stay tuned :-)
