A bird's eye view of the vineyard
Holy Gospel according to Saint Matthew (10:26) and Saint John (8:32)
Trust not in princes, nor in the children of men, in whom there is no safety. His breath shall go forth, and he shall return to his earth; in that day all his thoughts shall perish.
Holy Prophet and King David (Psalm 145:3-4 according to the LXX)
To love. To be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and the vulgar disparity of life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never power. Above all, to watch. To try and understand. To never look away. And never, never to forget.
Arundhati Roy
Thou shalt not be a victim.
Thou shalt not be a perpetrator.
And above all,
Thou shalt not be a bystander

I am prepared to die, but there is no cause for which I am prepared to kill. I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; the evil it does is permanent. Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.Mahatma Gandhi
I am for truth, no matter who tells it.

I am a pessimist by nature. Many people can only keep on fighting when they expect to win. I'm not like that, I always expect to lose. I fight anyway, and sometimes I win.

Holy crap, Emmanuel Goldstein is dead?!? This may bring the war with Eastasia within measurable distance of its end!!!
abbottabad is roughly 1,500 to 1,600 km from karachi (on the Sea).
the combat radius of an Apache Helicopter is roughly 480 km.
how did the US begin the mission from Afghanistan or the Arabian Sea, perform the mission, and then fly the body all the way to the Arabian Sea for disposal?
I have to smile at the US citizens dancing with joy. Just think, you’ve lost your job, you’ve lost your house, your medical insurance has suddenly been deemed invalid just when you’ve fallen ill, the economy is down the dunny but the bankers are still laughing at you and taking home whopping big bonuses… But, never mind, the wicked witch is dead.
The words ‘mass destraction’ come to mind. If our rulers here can fool the masses with a royal wedding, O’Bama & Co can do the same with a shoot-out in Pakistan.
@anonymous1: I believe that they had modified Black Hawks which have a range of over 2000km external fuel and which also have refueling probes.
Also, they could fly to an airport and then transfer OBL's body to an fixed wing aircraft

Indeed, and that is the main point for doing this now. Mass distraction indeed, like the games in Rome.
Yes yes, as Cyrus Safdari of Iranaffairs perceptively remarked, "they made sure not to distract from the royal wedding either." And they piously waited for Woytila's beatification festivities to finish. On the other hand, the man who has basically run the country since 2006, Robert Gates, got his big win just as he is about to leave the Pentagon...

The first video is quite compelling, really. I had a neighbor get busted for dealing drugs a few years back. It took me less than two weeks to figure out he was probably dealing by the fact different cars were in his driveway every time I passed by his property. When he was busted a few years later it came as no surprise to me or many of my neighbors who had come to the same conclusion independently. People notice every little change in their communities and in their daily lives.
It's a real mystery how they could have warehoused the leader of a terrorist organization as active in as much mayhem as has been pinned on "Al Qaeda" without anyone noticing the sheer volume of activity and communications that would have been coming out of that rather conspicuous property. Not to mention Bin Laden was a 6 ft tall Arab in need of highly sophisticated kidney dialysis equipment who somehow managed to survive living in a cave in Afghanistan and trekking over the mountains on foot into Pakistan.
Here we have a neighbor basically saying he never noticed anything unusual about the place. Even if they were unlikely to figure out Bin laden himself was there (unless the 6 ft tall Arab decided to take a walk in the backyard, at which point alarm bells would go off in some people's heads), people would have been aware something unusual was going on.
