A bird's eye view of the vineyard
Holy Gospel according to Saint Matthew (10:26) and Saint John (8:32)
Trust not in princes, nor in the children of men, in whom there is no safety. His breath shall go forth, and he shall return to his earth; in that day all his thoughts shall perish.
Holy Prophet and King David (Psalm 145:3-4 according to the LXX)
To love. To be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and the vulgar disparity of life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never power. Above all, to watch. To try and understand. To never look away. And never, never to forget.
Arundhati Roy
Thou shalt not be a victim.
Thou shalt not be a perpetrator.
And above all,
Thou shalt not be a bystander
Yehuda Bauer

I am prepared to die, but there is no cause for which I am prepared to kill. I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; the evil it does is permanent. Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.Mahatma Gandhi
I am for truth, no matter who tells it.

I am a pessimist by nature. Many people can only keep on fighting when they expect to win. I'm not like that, I always expect to lose. I fight anyway, and sometimes I win.

I thought that, after the 2008 defeat, Saakashvili was soon going to lose power the same way he gained it: by an overthrow.
Anyway, I was too optimistic about Georgians. They seem to be in the same level of stupidity of Lithuanians, Latvians and Estonians. Or even worse, because at least these three weren't crazy enough to go to war against Russia.
Ukrainians, a much bigger country, showed some rationality.
@Carlo: its really tragic. Georgia is an ancient civilization, with a rich culture, and the Georgian people are known for their kindness and generosity. How they managed to be ruled by raving psychopats like Gamsakhurdia or Saakashvili is already bizarre. But to RE-ELECT a lunatic like Saakashvili is just about as crazy as it gets. Even the Ukies ditched the nationalists when things got really bad, but no so the Georgians...
Georgia is definitely going down the tubes now.
