Who knows whether Uncle Sam wants to "unite" US people against one Cause, whatever it could be, to prevent Martial Law on US soil during or after presidential election? It's old good Soviet tactics dubbed "watch out external enemy!"
On the other hands such raids, done by sort of Blackwater scum I suspect (on orders from Washington, not necessary from the White House!), can only unite people _for_ Obama against McCain...
The Washington Post is reporting that it is preparing exercises for the transition period to "show them how you actually operate the levers of the military power of the United States".
The quote appears at the end of the article and cites an "official familiar with the team".
Maybe routine, but maybe not.
It looks like the military are to take over "de facto" executive powers, this time for a while only. :) "De jure" will be in the hands of new administration (yet).
