There's a lot of lying about Iran in the media. Even publications like The NewYorker regularly throw in gratuitous claims about how Ahmadinejad vows to wipe Israel off the map. Nowhere in the msm will you hear that the NNPT guarantees Iran the right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy. Nor is it clear that their facillities are safeguarded by IAEA inspectors who are on site and can detect enrichment beyond the 5% level needed for nuclear power. Also, it is commonplace to hear of the 'discovery' of a secret facility in Natanz as if the construction of this facility violated the NNPT;it didn't.

I've been long convinced that the super hyped lies against Iran has a lot to do with what Chomsky called the threat of a good example... Iran's significant advances since the Islamic Revolution remains a threat to US dominance in the region - because while the US has its puppets in place, large sections of the Muslim majority countries end up looking towards Iran.
This poses a direct threat to the US, who would want to keep the countries and the region under its thumb --- no matter what it costs in terms of human lives.

Have to disagree with you here. The Israelis are the principal actors behind pushing America to war. A modernized technologically sophisticated Iran is not a threat to America but to Israel. America is Israel's puppet.
