Israel Arrests Iranian TV Correspondent
Fars News Agency reports: Israeli forces have arrested Iran's Al-Alam News Network's correspondent reporting from the occupied Palestinian territory.
The man's lawyer said the Palestinian was also suspected of passing confidential information to unauthorized persons - "a very harsh security offense" - but gave no further details.
Khadr Shahine, who reported for Iran's state-owned Arabic language Al-Alam television station, violated the censorship rules when he reported the beginning of Israel's ground offensive against the Gaza Strip before it was permitted by military censors, Israeli authorities claimed.
Shahine turned himself in Tuesday after hearing police wanted to question him, his lawyer said.
Shahine's lawyer, Mohammed Dakhleh, said his client was being held on suspicion of passing confidential information to unauthorized persons.
"This is a very harsh security offense," he said, adding that it was the first time it had been used against a journalist.
Dakhleh said Shahine has long worked as a journalist, including during the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
"It's basically persecution because the guy has been giving TV items for years now," Dakhleh said.
Israel's military censor has broad powers to shut down media outlets or imprison journalists to prevent the release of information deemed threatening to the Zionist regime's security.
"A guy who supplies information for Iranian television is being questioned by police for suspected censorship violation," said Daniel Seaman, the head of Israel's Government Press Office.
Israel waged war on the Gaza Strip on December 27 and began a "long-term" ground offensive on the Palestinian territory last Saturday.
Thus far, the Israeli aggression has killed 763 Palestinians and injured thousands of others - a large number of the casualties are civilians

I do believe your numbers of casualties are too high. Many media sources in Europe published a lower toll. In any case, this painful body count would be a lot lower is the Hamas allowed people to hide away when advised by the Israeli forcesto do so. Maybe if they didn't fire missiles from school buildings, they wouldn't get children killed. No proper government would ask its people to die.
Allow them to hide away where? The IDF murder machine has no compunction in slaughtering women and children wherever they flee, whether it be mosques, hospitals or UN schools.
Nor is there any conceivable justification for starving people because they elected a the "wrong" party. Even supposing that the lying propaganda about Hamas were true not all Gazans voted for them and the children of course have no vote.
Israel has violated every tenet of international law. If there was any justice Olmert Litvni and the whole pack of murdering thugs would be on a one way flight to the Hague.
Analysis of Israeli and Hamas strategy.

@Robert: don't pay much attention to "anonymous". I actually know who he is and I can tell you that though he fancies himself as somebody intelligent (Mensa member and all), he is really beyond reach. I suggested to him that he is wasting his (and our) time posting here and I am hopeful that he will understand that.

Turkey has been using similar tactics for a long time now: they call it "irritating people who are in the proximity" to severe any ties or support (I urge you to read what Israeli spokes person told Turkish govt when Turkey protested what Israel did). Infact during this conflict, Turkey has been bombing villages in North Iraq nonstop. Of course Iran was keeping on shelling meanwhile. Nobody's looking, right. Turkey bombed 20+ villages in one day on the Iraqi aside and the military even fired at a Kurdish village in Turkey. We are talking harming civilians. No reporter has been allowed in those places for over a year now.
Ok so, let's leave all that aside (who cares about Kurds anyway) and come to the trivia of the day. Guess where the Israeli pilots train with their jets? We are talking low altitude flying. You know the kind which may come handy in bombing a city! Not Israel because the territory is not big enough! If you haven't guessed it, here it is: Konya, Turkey. A comprehensive security (collaboration) agreement was signed between Turkey and Israel before Israel attacked. What's the term for what Turkey does?

Dear Saker,
Your blog was recommended to me as one of the best exemplars on the web to pseudo-intellectual articles, that are in fact very well concealed defamation.
The recommendation was misleading.
I can't, for the life of me, comprehend why Google let you use their space in order to spread your lies.
However, I wish you a happy saking, and please continue your sakings somewhere else...
@JackLI can't, for the life of me, comprehend why Google let you use their space in order to spread your lies
I think that there are a couple of explanations here:
a) Google does not engage in political censorship
b) Google probably is aware of the fact that censorship is not workable in the age of the Internet.
c) the very point of offering blog services is to achieve *diversity* and not the kind of "ein Reich, ein Volk, and Fuehrer" environment which you seem to lean towards
d)there is, of course, no "defamation" here or, no doubt, the League specializing in unmasking such "defemations" would have done its utmost to shut this blog down.
That is not to say that this will not happen in the future. We all know who is in power in the USA and we all know how totalitarians of your kind just *hate* free speech. But please consider this: a blog is only an expression, a manifestation, of something. A blog is a medium, that's all.
Did the fires of in Inquisition succeed in eliminating "heresy"? Did Hitler's book burnings in any way succeed in eliminating the vision and art of the burned book's authors? Has the Soviet Gulag prevented Solzhenitsyn of testifying for the Truth the Soviets wanted to bury?
So even if one day the goose-stepping totalitarians succeed in moving this blog from Google to another provider what will they have achieved?
There is a simple fact of history which makes all your threats futile: those who speak the truth need not fear lies, but those who speak lies are terrified of the truth.
So I understand your distress, your outrage, your frustration. In turn, I ask you to try to understand that these feelings are not caused by my modest little blog, but by the fact that you are serving the wrong master:
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Freedom is a *PREREQUISITE* for the truth and the truth is a *PREREQUISITE* for freedom. You cannot have one without the other. So don't kid yourself: you hate the truth as much as you hate freedom. This is why we, who dearly love truth and freedom, will prevail.

Dear Saker,
I was happy to read a true intellectual. There are a few of your kind these days writing freely on the internet.
However, unfortunately, great parts of your writing sound the echo of dark eras. Your evident support of terrorist groups and nations rus shivers down the spine of any sane mortal. And you, dear Saker, are a mortal too, so what does this support make you? A potential Shahid? Many political situations in the world today are extremely complicated and difficult to comprehend looking from the outside, but one thing that is clear in today's world is that the Islamic terrorism, whether linked with Palestine or not, is wrong. Blind hatred leads to nothing but destruction, and you, dear saker, are a blind hater, which is a great waste of your intellect.
@Damian: please refer to my reply to Jack above. Cheers!
The Saker
PS: gotta love these words of yours: "Your evident support of terrorist groups and nations".
Terrorist *nations*?!
How can a nation be "terrorist"? LOL!
The ugly little racist in you is clearly seeping out - you might want to hide that just a little better.
Jack - done. Damian - done.
Who is next?
he Zionist propaganda counteroffensive is in full swing. Lot's of bloggers volunteering as part of the JIDF (google it if you don't believe me) and volunteering for Camera, HonestReporting or other Zionist propaganda outlets are swarming the web trying to discredit anything that sullies the name of their beloved country.
Just ignore them VS.
-AA
You obviously do not write a blog in order to bring up a discussion of any sort, which is a shame. Being unable to hear or bear contradicting views is immature.
"Terrorist nations" - not that funny, dear Saker. Countries that support terrorist groups and even cheer terrorist attacks are terrorist. As simple as that.
Sorry to stoop as low, but: KAPISH?
@AA; Thanks for the warning, but I have to tell you that as soon as I saw these previously never seen guys show up here and when I read their nonsensical arguments I knew exactly whom I was dealing with. But I also find them useful as being so damn obtuse they always reveal their racist agenda and mindset. These guys illustrate better than anything else the real nature of the racist Zionist regime and I therefore welcome their posts here.
@Damian: first, I applaud you for carefully substituting the word "nations" with the word "countries". That goes to show that even though you are clearly a racist you are at least aware of how ugly the racist worldview is to a normal, sane, person. Too bad though that you end your otherwise, shall we say, "controlled" post with the word "KAPISH" all in caps. You see, using caps in a discussion thread is the equivalent of YELLING and it shows your exasperation at being caught in such a stupid choice of words as "terrorist nations".
Frustration, dear Damian, is always a sign of failure :)
As I said above to 'AA', you are always welcome to post your propaganda here as I know for a fact that no matter what you will write you will only help me make my case. You are in a "quicksand" kind of situation here in which the more you wiggle, the more you go down and, frankly, it gives me a great deal of joy watching you, "Jack" and any other hasbara propagandist struggling in vain against the quicksands of truth.
Cheers!
